Maldita.es collaborates with ChequeaBolivia with technology, training for its journalists and strengthening of its verification processes

Since September 2020 the Maldita.es team has worked together with ChequeaBolivia on priority areas identified by the organization to strengthen the verification work they carry out in the country.

The project we worked on together consisted of providing them with the technology so they can offer their users a Google Chrome extension that warns about disinformation while browsing. The extension is available for download in the Chrome Web Store.

In addition, from Maldita Educa we carried out a series of online workshops for the journalists of the ChequeaBolivia newsroom focused on strengthening their fact-checking methodology, training them in tools for verification and processes for verifying political speech.

Maldito Bulo and Maldito Dato worked together with the journalists of the ChequeaBolivia newsroom for several weeks in order to provide them with a series of recommendations that will allow them to strengthen and streamline their workflows.

Finally, they have been provided with advice to prepare documentation on transparency and methodologies that will allow them to be a more open and accountable organization before their readers.

This collaboration is part of the alliance with Internews and the universities of Harvard and Columbia and the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México to train journalists in Bolivia in the fight against disinformation.
