Maldita.es and DKV join forces to fight hoaxes related to health

With this alliance Maldita.es seeks to ensure that more citizens have access to verified scientific information, especially in this pandemic that has been accompanied by a wave of disinformation, known as an infodemic.

For one year, the Maldita Ciencia team of Maldita.es will publish two debunks per week on the DKV blog. In addition, every week DKV’s social media channels will feature a video or infographic produced by Maldita.es with the most important health-related debunks. The content published on the blog will also be published on Maldita Ciencia.

Likewise, DKV users and clients will be able to consult all their doubts directly with the Maldita.es team through the mailbox on the insurer’s website. Every 15 days, the science journalists of Maldita.es will answer users’ questions using Maldita.es’ verification methodology.

All the content produced for this alliance has full editorial independence and carries the quality seal granted by Maldita.es being a signatory of the Code of Principles of the International Fact-Checking Network, which guarantees: non-partisanship and neutrality, transparency about sources, funding, organizational structure, working methodology and the clear and honest publication of corrections.

Our team specialized in science journalism works hand in hand with experts and scientific evidence so that more and more people make informed decisions and lies do not affect their health.

Maldita Ciencia is the section of Maldita.es that fights disinformation related to health, nutrition, physics, chemistry, astronomy and climate change. To counter disinformation they rely on two pillars: scientific knowledge and community. Currently, they collaborate with more than 22 specialized medical institutions that facilitate access to information and certify the accuracy of the publications.

At Maldita.es we have debunked almost 700 hoaxes during this pandemic, we have given courses, created manuals, published a special on coronavirus (which has won the first journalism prize of the Foro Premios Afectivo Efectivo) and we have coordinated a European report on the impact of its lies.

In addition, we have a new WhatsApp bot +34 644 22 93 19 that you can consult to be more effective and we have taken to the streets to raise awareness about the importance of masks.
