Today’s internet is less safe than it was a year and a half ago—and that is no coincidence. The way power is exercised has changed—and our journalism must change too. To continue fulfilling our mission—giving you the tools to avoid being misled—we have redesigned our editorial project, Maldita.es.
Fundación Maldita.es has been honored with the Transparency and Informational Rigor Award at the 4th Edition of the Alejandro Echevarría Awards, a recognition that highlights its commitment to fact-checking, editorial independence, and the defense of citizens’ right to reliable information.
The programme aims to ensure that digital spaces are safer, more inclusive and more trustworthy by promoting accountability among major technology platforms, combating disinformation and strengthening online democracy.
The project aims to strengthen community preparedness for climate emergencies by addressing the impact of disinformation and promoting access to reliable, practical and locally adapted information.
No concrete legal text has yet been presented, making it difficult to analyze the scope and potential effectiveness of some of these reforms if they are approved.
